On a personal note..... I'm kinda sad it's come to an end......

To everyone who participated with their votes and their comments, I thank you. This experience has been one of the most gratifying as my main objective was that everyone have FUN with the tournament and that objective was met MANY TIMES OVER.

I can certainly say that with what this tournament and The Protoculture Times have been over the last month or so, I really could hang it all up now and say.....job well done John. At times, I won't lie to you, that has been something I considered....

But ya know......there's still MORE FUN TO BE HAD!!!!

So now that the SDF-25 MECHA TOURNAMENT has passed on to the ages......what's next?

THE FINALS......

Hello all!

Thank you to EVERYONE who has participated in this Tournament, it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences for me seeing people get so involved in this throughout each one of the rounds.

And now we come to the FINAL MATCH.

The voting was tense and exciting, especially in the last 24 hours....

IF you read this blog or my Facebook page yesterday, you know that a shred of doubt was raised in terms of the results of the Semi-Finals. An "interesting" influx of votes from a few locations within a span of a few hours gave me the fear that bots were being used the make automated queries to the site resulting in those votes. It made me think, are these results accurate...are they even fair? When people have voted on this, for the most part they can't vote again just only change their vote. I have been explained that there are ways around that. I am no expert by no means, but seeing how the voting went for that last day.....even I was like DAMN! For this tournament I had NOT taken into into account that something like this could happen.

THAT is where I am torn....going by the logic of the results...the Final Match should be the MAC II VS. the VF-1J BLUE.

Yet were the results obtained in a fair manner? Well people are going to like their mecha and even I have said when talking about the Tournament..."Tell a friend, tell a friend of a friend, tell a friend of a friend of a friend....etc." Like I said...I have been torn over the last few hours....

Now, I have been able to ascertain some facts of the situation, of which I'm not going to discuss here. I've been feeling like crap all weekend due to a severe cold and cough but that's not enough to keep me from deciding on what to do.

Time to go into "Random" mode......The voting was so close...and my "little kid" side said......"Golly gee whillakers...I wish all of them could be the winner!" Of course in this harsh world....things like are just NOT possible.

Therefore, and I want to thank Brian3D for this inspiration.....

It has come to my attention that the possibility of "automatic queries" or bots as they are known have been cycling in and out of the site with an influx of automated votes. I have to ask myself, is that fair to the people who don't know how to do this, which includes myself?...Because of this shred of doubt as a factor now, do the results become nullified? I have not decided on a course of action as I want to come to the best possible resolution....

There were clear winners but the matchup between the MAC II and the Bioroid came down to ONE vote....

Amazing!

Round 2 saw a mix of domination and knock down-drag down battles to the bitter end!

But from 16 Mecha, only 8 shall pass on their way down that road to deserving title of CHAMPION.

Thank you to Jennifer from Florida for pointing this out. Due to obvious scheduling conflicts for your host in updating the brackets on a week night. I am extending voting time on the Quarter, Semi, and Grand Final each lasting for a week respectively.....

Welcome everyone to AnnivesaryCast #3 which is dedicated to solely this occasion!

The Protoculture Times is proud to present in commemoration of Robotech's 25th Anniversary the first and only........

SDF-25 MECHA TOURNAMENT!!!!!!

Thirty two mecha have been selected from Robotech's Original 85 episodes and the Sentinels and have been placed into a tournament bracket with first, second, quarter, semi and final rounds!

32 MECHA.....1 CHAMPION!

It's simple, YOU get to choose who passes on to the next rounds and ultimately to the finals and be crowned CHAMPION.

I want to thank CHALLONGE.COM for providing these brackets. The pairings of the first round were done automatically at random. I just provided the names. Now that's technology for ya!

This is not about technical specs, you can call it basically a BIG POPULARITY CONTEST. If you think Rook's Red Cyclone should claim the title of champion....then vote her there!
